Pune: State BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule has said there is no rift in the Mahayuti govt, despite alliance members' differing opinions about funds transfers and the chief minister's post.
Earlier, social justice minister Sanjay Shirsat had expressed dissatisfaction about the transfer of funds from his department, after an amount of Rs425 crore was redirected to the Ladki Bahin scheme.
Bawankule, however, supported this diversion of funds, stating that since the women of beneficiary communities under the social justice department are also benefiting from the Ladki Bahin scheme, the transfer is acceptable.
According to him, is no need to raise objections if a portion of funds is taken from the tribal, social justice or women and child welfare departments. "Decisions like funds transfers are collective. They do not reflect any rift," he said.
Regarding supporters of deputy CM
Ajit Pawar demanding that he be made CM, Bawankule said workers of respective parties ought to demand the CM post "for the supreme leader of their party". "Every party has the right to make efforts for its expansion. But it does not mean there are differences in our alliance," he said.
Bawankule, while speaking at a meeting of BJP office-bearers from the district, said workers should dent the Congress party. Recently, former MLA and Congress veteran Sangram Thopate joined the BJP. "Even though people are coming from the Congress party, the priority will be given to the BJP old-timers," said Bawankule.
According to Bawankule, the appointment of a new district and city chief of the party is likely on May 10. The list will be finalised after a meeting of the core committee.
